A mentor for everyone

Every one needs a mentor no matter where they are in their career. At SWE UW, we want to build a mentorship program where students can feel supported, learn valuable skills, and get ready for the workforce. This year, we connected with over 50 industry professionals who are passionate about helping students transition from college to career. We also have student mentors who are dedicated to helping first-year students prepare for the College of Engineering.

SWEsters

Connect UW students together

The SWEsters program connects freshmen and sophomores with juniors, seniors, and graduate students. SWEsters will host events/activities ranging from game nights to professional development workshops. With an emphasis on friendship, connections, encouragement, and support, both mentors and mentees can support each other through meaningful connections made beyond SWEster events.

“After meeting my Industry mentor and learning that she was in the same program at UW as me and is flourishing in an occupational path that I am very interested in, I have already learned a great amount in being persistent and working towards what I want in life.”

“I really like having my mentors so easily accessible in the SWEsters mentorship program. It helps so much as a first year student to have that kind of support from experienced students especially with the same interests in fields.”

“Being able to share the knowledge and insight that I have gained during my academic career to other students who may benefit from hearing about it was a very fulfilling and enriching experience…It is important for us to give back and empower other girls in STEM through our advice and experiences.”
