Evening With Industry

Last week, our Corporate Relations Team hosted our annual Evening With Industry (EWI) event in collaboration with the UW Community of Minority and Women Engineering Societies (CMWES)!
This event brought together engineering students and professionals for an evening of networking, connections, and career-building conversations. Students had the opportunity to connect with recruiters from nine leading engineering companies: Burns & McDonnell, Crane Aerospace & Electronics, Genie, a Terex Company, HDR, Helion Energy, KPFF Consulting Engineers, PBS Engineering, PCS Structural Solutions, and Turner Construction. They also had the chance to meet fellow aspiring engineers and enjoy dinner with a company of their choice.
A huge thank you went out to all the company representatives and CMWES for making this event such a success!
Bridgerton x Galentines Tea Party

Career Fair Prep andResume Review Workshop

The event focused on preparing for upcoming career fairs and refining resumes for internship and job applications was a success. A representative from the Career Center @ Engineering (CC@E) attended to answer questions and shared valuable tips for crafting elevator pitches and perfecting resumes. Attendees had the opportunity to peer review resumes, brainstorm, and practice elevator pitches together.

The Product Panel

Our members got the chance to learn about product management from industry professionals. They also got the chance to get their resumes reviewed by the panelists. This event was hosted with UW Product Space, the Product Management Club at UW, and the Technology & Business Association at UW.

We had SpaceX employees come and talk to students about the work they are doing with StarLink. They answer questions about their previous experiences, current work, and the incredibly supportive atmosphere in the company.
Academics Chair Mixer - Tote Bag Painting

The Academics Chairs Mixer + Tote Bag Painting event was a great success! Upperclassmen from all engineering disciplines eagerly engaged with attendees, providing insights and guidance on the various majors available at UW. Participants enjoyed a creative atmosphere as they painted tote bags. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to a fantastic experience!

Engineering Discovery Days
May 2nd-3rd, 2024 | UW Campus
We took part in the UW College of Engineering’s Engineering Discovery Days, where hundreds of 4th-8th grade students visited UW’s campus to get inspired about engineering. Our Community Outreach branch hosted boat building challenges and an invisible ink activity. Students were excited to test their boat creations on the water and see what invisible messages they could uncover!
Engineering Exploration Career Panel

SWEHacks

Our members hacked their way to innovation, challenged their skills, and made everlasting memories at our annual SWEHacks Hackathon! The theme this year revolved around “Tech for Social Good”, an opportunity to harness the power of technology to address pressing issues and make a positive impact on the world. The three tracks this year were Accessibility, Social Media, and Culture.
Prior to the Hackathon, we held two workshops consisting of an introduction to web development in collaboration with Web Impact UW and a team building workshop.

Galentines 3D Modeling Workshop

We collaborated with Phi Sigma Rho to host a 3D modeling workshop, where we made all things Valentine’s! Members learned and practiced their 3D modeling skills through hands-on experiences. Thank you, Phi Sigma Rho!
