Secretary Candidates
Why are you running for this executive position?
I'm running for both secretary and VP of Public Relations. I want to be on the executive board in order to contribute meaningfully to our chapter's growth and development. Through my experience on the SWE leadership development program, a national SWE program, I've been able to interact and learn from countless other SWE chapters and executives. This has led to me to want to incorporate similar practices and events in my own chapter. For example, I want to ensure that every member has access to all of the opportunities UW SWE and national SWE offers. This entails refining our outreach efforts, streamlining communication channels, and championing initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of our membership, which are all areas that both secretary and VP of Public Relations cover. On top of this, I'm committed to cultivating a supportive community within SWE, one where individuals are able to seek guidance and ask questions without fear. In applying to both the Secretary and VP of Public Relations positions, I want to leverage my adeptness in organizational admin, communication strategy, and member engagement to advance our collective objectives. Whether it's ensuring campaigns are out on time and our events are advertised in PR or maintaining records as secretary, I want to contribute to UW SWE. In closing, I'm genuinely excited about the opportunity to serve our SWE chapter in either the role of Secretary or VP of Public Relations, and can't wait to make this vision a reality!
What is your past involvement with SWE at UW?
My involvement with UW SWE has been quite diverse, starting with my role as a committee member for SWEHacks during my freshman year and progressing to my current position as the Graphics Director. As the Graphics Lead for SWEHacks, I played a pivotal role in crafting the visual identity of the event, contributing significantly to its success and growth by creating compelling designs and branding materials that attracted participants and sponsors alike. Recognizing the role of effective communication within our chapter, I took the initiative to develop a tailored website for the hackathon, serving as a centralized platform for giving information about workshops, resources, and opportunities, and updating in real-time. This initiative aimed to enhance member engagement and participation by ensuring accessibility and user-friendliness, ultimately fostering a stronger sense of community within UW SWE. In my current capacity as Graphics Director, I continue to leverage my skills in graphic design and communication to promote our chapter's activities and initiatives. Through visually appealing graphics and promotional materials, I want to not only attract members to our events but also enhance their overall experience and keep them informed about the latest developments within our SWE chapter. In summary, my past involvement with UW SWE has revolved around utilizing my expertise in graphic design and communication to drive member engagement, promote events, and cultivate a sense of belonging within our chapter. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to further contribute to the growth and success of UW SWE in the roles of Secretary and VP of Public Relations.
