Positions for 2025-2026 Director

Community Outreach Directors

  • Role Description:

    • Run weekly meetings with your team

    • Attend in-person events to local middle schools and present to students

    • Network with other clubs and organizations to create partnerships geared towards outreach

    • Plan middle school visits and communicate with school officials

    • Plan 2-3 SWE events per quarter

    Leadership Growth:

    • Communication and collaboration

    • Experience delegating and running a team of 6-8 other students

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Weekly meetings with your team

    • Monthly general meetings

    • Monthly meetings with VP Community Outreach

    Hours per week: 4

  • Role Description:

    • Run weekly meetings with your team

    • Attend in-person events to local high schools and present to students

    • Help create content for a variety of different high school presentations

    • Network with other clubs, organizations, and high schools to create partnerships geared towards outreach

    • Attend monthly general meetings

    • Plan 2 SWE events per quarter

    Leadership Growth:

    • Communication and collaboration

    • Experience delegating and running a team of 6-8 other students

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Weekly meetings with your team

    • Monthly general meetings

    • Monthly meetings with VP Community Outreach

    Hours per week: 4

 

Corporate Relations Directors

  • Role Description:

    • Oversee planning for Evening with Industry to help members have an opportunity to interact with specific companies.

    • Work with co-directors and VP to ensure diversity of company and member participation.

    • Organize company contact and sponsorship information.

    • Decide how to use the budget most efficiently to ensure a robust program.

    • Collect demographic information and maintain feedback for EWI.

    • Meet weekly with committee members.

    • Work closely with VP and other officers over the summer and throughout the year to plan and implement all programs/events in CR.

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Weekly CR officers meetings in summer (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly CR officers meetings during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly/Bi-weekly meetings for your own committee during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Attend all general meetings (1 hr)

    • Attend your own events (time varies)

    Hours per week: 8-15

  • Role Description:

    • Oversee SWEHacks and welcome beginners/other majors interested in building projects in an inclusive environment.

    • Help attendees gain valuable learning experience in product development by making it an easy process to approach mentors.

    • Meet weekly with committee members.

    • Work closely with VP and other officers over the summer and throughout the year to plan and implement all programs/events in CR.

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Weekly CR officers meetings in summer (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly CR officers meetings during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly/Bi-weekly meetings for your own committee during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Attend all general meetings (1 hr)

    • Attend your own events (time varies)

    Hours per week:8-15

  • Role Description:

    • Oversee SWEets with Industry and organize event logistics as well as task assignment.

    • Help attendees gain valuable mentorship experience from industry professionals.

    • Meet weekly with committee members.

    • Work closely with VP and other officers over the summer and throughout the year to plan and implement all programs/events in CR.

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Weekly CR officers meetings in summer (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly CR officers meetings during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Weekly/Bi-weekly meetings for your own committee during the school year (30 min - 1 hr)

    • Attend all general meetings (1 hr)

    • Attend your own events (time varies)

Public Relations Directors

  • Role Description: 

    • Design graphics for digital channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

    • Oversee PR committee members that partake in the design process for flyers/posters and other graphics 

    • Create branding guidelines for all SWE advertisement graphics

    • Ensure inclusive design amongst SWE graphics

    • Organize design files and resources

    • Fulfill SWE team design requests alongside social media/graphics committee

    Leadership Growth:

    • Strengthen team leadership skills by guiding committee members through the design process

    • Strengthen professional communication skills 

    • Gain experience with providing and integrating design feedback

    • Enhance organizational skills through managing shared design requests and materials

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Meet with PR team bi-weekly

    • Monthly SWE General Meetings

    • 2 SWE events per quarter

    Hours per week: 3-4

  • Role Description: 

    • Post to digital channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) for informational updates 

    • Work closely with Social Media Content Director to plan social media calendar

    • Communicate professionally and effectively when posting to social media and responding to direct messages 

    • Oversee PR committee members handling the TikTok and newsletters 

    Leadership Growth:

    • Develop strong organizational and scheduling skills

    • Strengthen professional communication skills

    • Gain leadership experience by overseeing committee-managed platforms

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Meet with PR team bi-weekly

    • Monthly SWE General Meetings

    • 2 SWE events per quarter

    Hours per week: 3-4

  • Role Description: 

    • Lead creative content strategy and posts for social media

    • Attend various SWE events to take picture and video content

    • Work closely with Social Media Logistics Director to plan social media calendar 

    • Communicate professionally and effectively when posting to social media

    • Oversee PR committee members handling the TikTok and newsletters

    Leadership Growth:

    • Strengthen professional communication skills 

    • Gain leadership experience by overseeing committee-managed platforms

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Meet with PR team bi-weekly

    • Monthly SWE General Meetings

    • 2 SWE events per quarter

    Hours per week: 3-4

  • Role Description: 

    • Update the SWE website with information about upcoming events on a monthly basis

    • Help run other website projects via request from SWE teams 

    • Using Squarespace with design creativity while aligning with branding guidelines

    • Ideate and create content for SWE website

    • Modify/update the website as you see fit

    • Communicate with both Secretary & VP of PR regularly to see how both internal and external communications need to be hosted on the website

    Leadership Growth:

    • Strengthen professional communication skills

    • Improve collaboration by working across teams to keep information current

    • Take initiative on website improvements and updates

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Meet with PR team bi-weekly

    • Monthly SWE General Meetings

    • 2 SWE events per quarter

Membership Directors

  • Role Description: 

    • Plan and execute social events for members to have fun and form connections!

    • Collaborate with other clubs and organizations to strengthen external relations!

    • Examples Events:  Sip & Paint, Galentines Tea Party, Bracelet Making with Women in Computing Club, 3D-Printing Workshop

    Leadership Growth:

    • Learn how to plan successful events 

    • Communication and leadership opportunities

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Biweekly Membership Team Meetings

    • Monthly General Meetings

    • 2  SWE Events Per Quarter

    • 1-2 Tabling Events

    Hours per week: 3-5

  • Role Description: 

    • Plan workshops centered around helping ENGRUD students with major exploration, application review, and community building

    • Example Events: ENGRUD Application Workshop, Engineering Majors Panel, ToteBag Painting Social with Academic Chairs

    • Collaborate with UW Academic Counselors and Engineering Academic Advising teams to connect students with resources 

    • Lead and delegate an Academic Committee of about 11 chairs, ~one for each engineering major

    Leadership Growth: 

    • Learn how to plan successful events towards supporting a large demographic within UW Engineering

    • Communication, leadership, and running a team

    Meetings Required to Attend:

    • Biweekly Membership Team Meetings

    • Monthly General Meetings

    • 2 SWE Events Per Quarter

    • 1-2 Tabling Events

    Hours per week: 3-5

  • Role Description: 

    • Plan and execute various events and tablings to increase outreach, fundraise for membership events, and recruit new members

    • Event Examples: Dawg Daze (Boba and Build), RSO Fair, Engineering Launch, Tabling (Mochinut, Krispy Kreme, Crumbl Cookie) on Hub Lawn

    Leadership Growth: 

    • Learn how to plan successful events and logistics for tabling

    • Communication and leadership opportunities
